For three generations, we have created, maintained and supervised the artisanal manufacturing process of our Mallorcan rocking chairs. WHO I AM?

To find the origin of the Gelabert rocking chair, we go back to around 1950, when my godfather Pep founded his own workshop and learned the trade of making Mallorcan rocking chairs.

Years later, my father Miquel started working in his workshop at a very young age, learning the techniques that his father had initiated. A few years later, my godfather Pep fell ill, and my father and his brother took over the workshop until the day came when the two brothers separated, and my father was the one who continued the business from the same workshop.

La tercera generació va arribar quan, molt jove, vaig començar a ajudar el meu pare al seu taller durant els estius, aprenent les tècniques que s’havien transmès durant els darrers 50 anys. D’aquesta manera, he seguit el mateix procés de producció que va iniciar el meu padrí, i hem mantingut la tècnica de la corba invertida com a segell distintiu de Balancins Gelabert.

En funció de l’acabat de la fusta que haguem seleccionat prèviament, triarem la tela de llengües mallorquina per entapissar el teu balancí. Les teles mallorquines estan disponibles en una gran varietat de colors i estampats. Al nostre taller disposam d’un catàleg amb mostres autèntiques de diversos tallers. Treballem amb les fàbriques tèxtils mallorquines Teixits Vicens, Teixits Bujosa i Teixits Riera.
